Sensor assemblies sometimes contain very small and closely spaced sensors with sensitive surfaces. These are often mounted in housings. The most important geometrical characteristics are position, flatness and distances. Depending on the application of the sensor assembly, the tolerances vary from 5 µm to several tenths of a mm. The measuring time plays a subordinate role.
